Wholesale & Distribution Masterclass (1987–1999)
Doug began his career in Virginia’s wholesale sector, developing a deep command of the logistics, operations, and compliance side of the industry. Transitioning to sales in 1992, his results-driven approach propelled him to the #1 Salesperson position across consecutive major acquisitions, capping his wholesale career with Republic National Distributing Company (RNDC).
Elite Wine Education
In 1997, as the top producer in his region, Doug was selected to attend and graduate from the prestigious Kobrand Wine & Spirits Seminar in New York, sharpening his technical expertise through rigorous blind tasting and masterclasses alongside the industry's elite.
Front-Line Retail Leadership (1999–Present)
For over 27 years, Doug has co-owned and managed a premier independent wine, beer, and gourmet retail storefront in Charlottesville, Virginia. Operating daily on the commercial front lines, he has successfully built, launched, and sold thousands of beverage brands, giving him a rare, real-time pulse on consumer buying psychology, localized market trends, and effective brand storytelling.
Over his career, Doug has systematically evaluated thousands of wines annually from the world's most definitive—and emerging—terroirs.
